Community Health Clinic, Immunization Program to Hold
Health Fair on November 18th

The V.I. Department of Health’s Community Health Clinic and Immunization Program will offer health screening services for residents during a daylong health fair at the Charles Harwood Medical Complex on St. Croix.

The fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, November 18, 2011 at the Community Health Clinic. Services will include free flu vaccines and glucose and cholesterol screening, according to Ruth Dublin, Program Administrator for the clinic.

Acting Commissioner Dr. Marc Jerome said the flu season, which began in October lasts through February, and that the clinic decided to offer the free flu shots to ensure that residents, especially the elderly, accustomed to participating in annual outreach events held by private and civic organizations, would get the vaccine at no cost.

“We encourage all at-risk residents, especially those with chronic medical conditions, to get the flu shot and to take advantage of the health screening services,” Dr. Jerome said.

Souvenirs and other health education items will be distributed.
