DOH Clinics Closed, Immunization Program Free Flu Vaccine
Outreach Postponed Due to Weather Conditions

Health Commissioner Julia Sheen said this morning that the free flu vaccine outreach scheduled for today at Tutu Park Mall on St. Thomas and Plaza Extra East on St. Croix have been postponed until further notice due to weather conditions.

Weather conditions have also forced Government offices territorywide to close, therefore all clinics are canceled. However, maintenance, custodial and supervisory personnel, to include program directors, managers and coordinators, are to report to work today. Sheen said that these essential employees are needed to assess their areas and will be allowed to leave thereafter, as per the directive by Governor John P. de Jongh, Jr.

“We regret any inconvenience to residents,” Sheen said “We expect clinic services to resume on Tuesday and once the free flu vaccine outreach has been rescheduled, we will alert the community.”

The Department is still on schedule for the outreach scheduled for October 15, 2010, on St. Croix and St. John. The schedule is as follows:

On October 15, 2010,

  • 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. - Plaza Extra West St, Croix.
  • 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. - Coral Bay Fire Station, St. John.
